Where did you grow up?
Council Bluffs, Iowa.

How did you get interested in space exploration?
I have been fascinated with outer space as long as I can remember, so I must have been impressed by television when I was very young in the late 50s/early 60s.

What's your educational background?
PhD Electrical Engineering, Iowa State University

What are your hobbies?
Sleep

What's your job on CRISM?
Develop the scan system and monitor its health

What excites you about exploring Mars?

I find the fact that it is another planet compelling.

What advice would you give to someone like you who wants to get involved in space exploration?
Keep your goals in mind as you make decisions about what to study and where to work.
