Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Appleton, Wisconsin

How did you get interested in space exploration?
Through the television program "Cosmos"

What’s your educational background?
I have a Ph.D. in Astronomy

What’s your job on CRISM?
Studies of the properties of atmospheric particulates (aerosols)

What excites you about exploring Mars?
Connecting the evolution of Mars to that of the Earth; The possibility of people visiting

What advice would you give to someone like you who wants to get involved in space exploration?
My advice would be to get involved in research projects as early as you can such as high school science fairs
